Aerospace
ESI offers a complete set of vibro-acoustic simulation solutions for aircraft and spacecraft engineering which can significantly reduce costs and risks of delaying projects. In addition, ESI Engineering Services provide a global network of high level vibro-acoustic specialists to help you address your most critical challenges in vibro-acoustic engineering or can train your engineers to deploy state-of-the-art methods and practices for vibro-acoustic engineering in your organization.
Success in the Field
Prediction of the Dynamic Response of the NASA ACTS Antenna to Wide Spectrum Loading
NASA GLENN Research Center and ESI Group
Objective
Evaluate different vibro-acoustic modeling methodologies to assess accuracy and computation efficiency for major spacecraft subsystems to validate various modeling strategies.
Challenge
Develop vibro-acoustic simulation models comprising BEM, FEM, FMM and SEA to model the various components of the space antenna in order to assess accuracy and computation efficiency.
Approach
Construct the antenna model using selected Modeling strategies:
- FEM/BEM (FE Shells, BEM Fluids, DAF Excitation)
- Hybrid (FE Shells, SEA Fluids, DAF Excitation)
- SEA (SEA Shell, SEA Fluids, DAF Excitation)
Result
Definition of modeling strategies for future programs based on accuracy and computation efficiency comparisons.
